Britt and Taz’s Back of House on The Block

Britt and Taz’s Back of House on The Block
A Masterclass in Function and Style

The Block 2025 gave Britt and Taz a chance to redeem themselves this week, and they delivered in spades. After leaving last week unfinished, the duo came back strong with a beautifully executed pantry, laundry and powder room that proved they’re more than capable of handling a multi-space challenge. Packed with warmth, function and timeless design, the judges were unanimous in their praise, with Marty even calling it a space that will attract “multiple bidders at auction.”

Pantry Perfection

The pantry was Britt and Taz’s “wild” move this week, and it paid off. Their decision to reposition the space created a gully-style layout that Darren described as “the only one that now makes sense.” Shaynna, the confessed storage queen, was delighted: “Wow, not only do we have bench space, we’ve got shelving space.”

Beige, simple, but never boring, their styling gave the pantry a sense of calm sophistication. For a similar look at home, pair the elegant curves of the Phoenix Pina Sink Mixer Gooseneck in Brushed Nickel with the clean lines of the Phoenix 5000 Series Double Bowl Quartz Resin Sink in Matte White, finished with Castella Cove Pill Pull Handles in Matte Black for a contemporary edge.

A laundry worth showing off

Connected to the pantry through a sweeping curved arch, the laundry drew just as many compliments. “Wow, what a great size laundry,” Shaynna said, while Darren called it “sexy looking”, not words often heard about utility spaces.

Britt and Taz nailed both practicality and style. Replicate the look at home with the Otti Byron 1305mm Laundry Set in Natural Oak, paired with the versatility of the Phoenix Nuage Pull-Out Sink Mixer in Brushed Nickel and the timeless durability of the Turner Hastings Cuisine Fine Fireclay Sink. Above it all, the Telbix Logik LED Track Light in White ensures every corner of the room is functional and bright.

A powder room with personality

Britt and Taz’s powder room blew the judges away. From the “gorgeous” floor-to-ceiling mirror to the pops of pink and earthy tones, it struck the perfect balance between bold and timeless. “It’s cosy, it’s warm, it gives you a big hug,” Marty said.

To recreate this layered look, start with the natural warmth of Ivory Amara Travertine Tiles, then add sculptural lighting, such as the Telbix Gaston 2 Light Pendant in Antique Gold and Opal. Luxe brushed nickel finishes tie the space together, featuring the Phoenix Vivid Slimline Basin Mixer, Phoenix Cromford Hand Towel Holder, Phoenix Cromford Toilet Roll Holder, and Caroma Invisi Series II Dual Flush Plate & Buttons. Paired with the Caroma Urbane II Cleanflush Invisi Wall-Faced Toilet Suite, these elements combine everyday practicality with high-end appeal. The centrepiece? A sophisticated Timberline Kingsley Wall-Hung Vanity with Under-Counter Basin.

Judge's praise

The verdict was clear: Britt and Taz had transformed their back-of-house into a showcase of function and flair. Darren praised their planning, Shaynna said the home felt “highly functional” yet full of love, and Marty predicted multiple bidders at auction. As Shaynna summed up: “It blows my mind the quality and energy and love that they’ve put into this.”

From the pantry to the laundry room to the powder room, Britt and Taz proved that the hardest-working parts of the home can still be the most beautiful. Their back-of-house struck the perfect balance between functionality, warmth, and style and with look-alike alternatives from The Blue Space, you can bring the same sophistication and amenities into your own renovation.
