Are you renovating this year?

You may have a renovation planned this year. It may have already been paused or you may be about to start and have been delayed. We understand how stressful this can be, so we wanted to help with this quick guide on keeping your renovation moving.

Important information regarding product shortages:

With a renovation boom, demand for trades, international shipping delays and COVID restrictions, there is a much higher demand for renovation products and quick delivery. Because of this, supply of products and materials are limited.

We recommend ordering now and securing your stock to have all your products ready in your garage for when lockdown ends to avoid any more delays.

If you don't have the space, we are more than happy to hold the products in our warehouse until you need them.
Just contact us, and we will arrange this for you!

1. Order Ahead

If there is one thing you take away from this blog, it’s to order ahead!

One thing that is in your control during lockdown is how chosen fixtures such as vanities, toilets and basins will fit perfectly into your desired location, making sure that when lockdown is lifted this part of your reno will be smooth sailing.

You will save a lot of time and money by being prepared earlier in advance than you planned. We also know mistakes can happen.

Ordering ahead will also allow your plumber to know what he’s working with when the time comes to rough in.

To help, we also offer a range of Instant Ship Products

3. Write a Project Plan

If you are managing your own project it's super important to be organised. Creating a project plan is a great way to manage and schedule all your renovation orders, and trades, keep track of all the projects that are occurring in your home.

Creating a project plan will also allow for you to budget accordingly so you can keep your expenses on track.

4. Double Measure Your Spaces

Measuring is always the first and most important step in planning. Measuring may be tedious however, an inch or even a millimetre off can be noticeable and costly. You don’t want to get caught up with additional delays when things don’t fit

Common dimensions used by each fixture

The commonly used unit of measurements in the building industry is millimetres (mm). Lengths, widths, depths and heights are usually given in millimetres. Where larger dimensions are shown such as the floor plan area of a room, metres will be used. Centimetres are rarely used

Length

Measured horizontally to identify the
extent of an object, how long it is

Depth

Always measured in a downwards
direction e.g. depth of a bath

Width

How wide an object is and is
measured from front to back

Height

Vertical extent of something, measured from the base
of an object to the top or measured from floor up.
