Bathroom Tallboys Buying Guide

A bathroom tallboy is a tall, narrow cabinet that adds storage for towels, toiletries and cleaning products without taking up much floor space. This collection includes tallboys and storage cabinets from Timberline, Marquis and ADP, wall hung and floor standing, from 375mm to 800mm wide. Many are made to match a vanity from the same range.

Are tallboys good for small bathrooms?

Yes. A tallboy stacks storage upwards, so it suits a narrow wall beside the vanity, toilet or shower. The key is clearance: make sure doors can open fully and that the cabinet does not block the space you need to stand at the vanity or step out of the shower. A wall hung tallboy also keeps the floor clear, which makes a small room feel larger.

What size bathroom tallboy do I need?

Measure the wall width, the ceiling height and the depth of the vanity nearby. The Marquis Cove and Pier tallboys are 375mm wide, 450mm deep and 1200mm high. The Timberline Colby is 450mm wide and 1500mm high wall hung, or 1650mm floor standing. The Timberline Fraser is 400mm wide and 1800mm high wall hung. The Timberline Sutherland House cabinets come in a 400mm single door or 800mm double door, 1750mm high.

Should I choose wall hung or floor standing?

A wall hung tallboy leaves the floor clear for cleaning and matches a wall hung vanity. It needs solid backing in the wall to carry the weight. A floor standing tallboy is simpler to install and suits rooms without wall backing. Some models, such as the Timberline Colby, Fraser and Sutherland House, are available both ways, with Sutherland House standing on metal legs.

Can I match my tallboy to my vanity?

Often, yes. The Timberline Colby tallboy matches the Colby vanity, and the Marquis Cove and Pier tallboys match the Marquis vanities of the same name, with a fluted timber grain front. What storage features should I look for?

Adjustable shelves let you fit tall bottles and folded towels. Soft-close hinges and drawers stop doors slamming. The Timberline Fraser combines doors with a soft-close full extension drawer, the Colby has adjustable shelves and European soft-close hinges, and the Sutherland House cabinets have five adjustable shelves each. The ADP Glacier Pro combines a door and drawer.

Are bathroom tallboys moisture resistant?

Bathroom cabinets are made from moisture-resistant board with sealed or painted finishes, but they are not waterproof. Keep them clear of direct shower spray, wipe up splashes promptly and run the exhaust fan to reduce steam. This helps the finish and hinges last.
