Eglo is an Austrian lighting maker, founded in 1969 in the Tyrol. This collection brings together its outdoor Fremantle range, Pandella vanity lights and Palmera wall lights for bathrooms, Passa wall lights for dry rooms, Oilella pendants and GU10 LED globes. It suits homeowners lighting an outdoor area, a bathroom vanity or a living space with fittings from one maker.

What Eglo lights are in this collection?

Outdoors, the Fremantle range covers IP65 wall lights, downlighters, up and down lights and ceiling bars. In the bathroom, the Pandella vanity wall light comes in 60cm, 78cm and 120cm lengths, and the Palmera wall light comes in single and two-light versions. Indoors, the Passa is a GU10 up and down wall light, and the Oilella is a glass pendant. GU10 LED globes in warm and natural white complete the range.

Which Eglo lights suit a bathroom?

Use lights rated IP44 or higher. The Pandella vanity bars and Palmera wall lights are IP44, suitable around the vanity. Pandella has a built-in 4000K natural white LED, at 11W on the 60cm bar and 14W on the 78cm and 120cm bars. Palmera gives a warm 3000K light. An electrician will confirm which zones each light can go in under AS/NZS 3000.

Which Eglo lights are for outdoor use?

The Fremantle range is designed for outdoors, rated IP65 for dust and water jets. It comes in aluminium finishes, stainless steel and copper, with a GU10 LED globe included in each head. Indoor fittings such as the Passa and pendants are rated IP20, which means dry rooms only. Near the coast, choose the stainless steel or copper Fremantle versions and rinse them with fresh water every few months, as an IP rating does not cover salt corrosion.

What colour temperature should I choose?

Warm white, around 3000K, suits living areas, entries and outdoor entertaining. Natural white, around 4000K, gives clearer light for bathroom vanities and work areas. Eglo GU10 globes are offered in warm white and natural white, both dimmable, so you can match the globe to the room.

How high should a pendant hang?

Over a dining table, hang a pendant about 700mm to 900mm above the tabletop. The Oilella hangs on a 200cm black textile cord and takes an E27 globe, sold separately. In a hallway, keep at least 2.1m clear beneath the pendant.

Who should install Eglo lights?

Any light connected to fixed 240V wiring must be installed by a licensed electrician. Changing a globe is the only part you can do yourself. Your electrician can also check that the IP rating suits each location.
