Brushed brass sits comfortably against warm whites, natural timber vanities and joinery, and deeper tones like charcoal, navy or forest green. It also works well as a contrast finish against matte black hardware or dark stone benchtops. It tends to look less at home against very cool, blue-grey palettes, where a nickel or chrome finish usually reads more naturally.

Warm, textural metallics have been the clearest shift away from plain chrome over the past few years, and brushed brass sits right in that movement alongside brushed nickel and brushed gold. The common thread is a brushed or matte surface instead of a mirror shine, which suits the layered, natural-material look many current bathroom and kitchen designs are going for. If it's genuine brushed brass rather than a brass-look coating, yes, it will develop a natural patina as it's exposed to moisture, air and handling. Many people choose brushed brass specifically for this "living finish" quality, since the colour deepens and softens slightly with age rather than looking worn.
