Phoenix Shower Rose Range

Phoenix Shower Rose Range Buying Guide

A shower rose is the head of a fixed overhead shower, and this collection holds Phoenix roses on their own, rose and arm sets, and high-rise sets where the arm adds height. The roses come from ranges including Vivid, Cromford, Wiltern, Nuage, Lexi, Ormond, Oxley and NX, in round and square shapes from about 155mm to 300mm, so there is a match for most Phoenix mixers and bathroom styles.

Should I buy a rose only or a rose and arm set?

Choose a rose only if you are keeping your existing arm. Phoenix roses such as the 230mm Vivid round rose fit standard half inch shower arms, but check that your arm can carry the rose's weight and holds it far enough from the wall. Choose a rose and arm set if you are replacing the arm too, or want both in one design and finish. Sets include the Vivid 400mm arm with a 230mm round rose, the Lexi 400mm arm with a 200mm square rose, and the Cromford arm and rose.

What is a high-rise shower arm and rose?

A high-rise set uses an upswept arm that lifts the rose above the wall outlet. It is the fix when the outlet sits too low to place a rose at the usual 2000 to 2100mm above the floor. Options include the Vivid MKII high-rise with a 250mm rose and 363mm arm reach, the Cromford high-rise with a 210mm rose, the Wiltern at 446mm overall height, and the Ormond and NX upswept sets.

Which Phoenix rose range suits my bathroom?

• Vivid and Vivid Slimline: slim, modern round roses; the Vivid Slimline SS is 316 marine grade stainless steel for coastal and outdoor use.
• Cromford: pared-back with heritage detail.
• Wiltern: Art Deco fluting on a 220mm rose.
• Nuage: soft sculptural curves, including powder-coated matte white.
• Ormond and Oxley: LuxeXP swirl spray with a 250mm rose.
• NX Iko, Orli, Cape and Quil: angular rain heads on upswept arms.
• Nostalgia: a vintage exposed shower set for new installations with separate hot and cold inlets.

What size rose is right for my water pressure?

Phoenix roses list an operating pressure of 150 to 500 kPa. A 200 to 230mm rose suits most homes, while 250 to 300mm rain heads need good pressure to feel full. To check yours, time a 10 litre bucket under the shower; under a minute points to good pressure. Ratings run from 3 to 5 star WELS, so check the flow on the exact version if you have an instantaneous gas hot water system.

Can I adjust the angle of the rose?

Several can. The Nuage, Wiltern and Cromford roses have an adjustable head angle, so you can aim the spray away from the screen or suit taller users without changing the arm. A fixed rose has no joint, which keeps it simple.

How do I clean a shower rose?

Wipe the rose after use and rub the nozzles with a finger. For a deeper clean, soak the head in a bag of warm water with mild dishwashing liquid for 30 to 60 minutes, then scrub the holes with a soft toothbrush and rinse. Avoid vinegar and acids on PVD, matte black, brushed gold and other coated finishes. Clean monthly in hard water areas.
