Tips for creating a colourful home:

  • Be selective with your colour choices - choose one family and use this throughout the space to create continuity
  • Introduce a neutral paint colour in the room to offset the beautiful bright colours
  • Either fill your home with a colourful feature walls, or fill your space with colourful accessories - don’t do both, unless you’re looking for a Maximalist style!
  • Use the 7-2-1 method - Choose three shades: one neutral, one colourful (but light) and one bold. Then, divide these across the space with the ratio of 7-2-1.
  • Pair wall tiles in a deep colour, with patterned floor tiles (in the same colour family, just a different shade) for a bright and eye-catching room
  • Play with paint - it's an easy way to instantly add a punch of colour to your space

Traps to avoid:

  • Overdoing your space by using a colourful feature wall and colourful accessories
  • Don’t paint without testing the colour first - order some Tint paint samples to see what you like!
  • Don't overuse colour, unless you're looking to do a Maximalist style instead

Popular Colour Combinations

When the time comes to make your colour selections, it's important that you combine complementary colours to ensure the room flows nicely.

  • Pair dark shades of colour with metallics to create a luxurious feel (eg. charcoal and gold look great together)
  • Light, pastel colours look great paired back with light marble
  • Use calming pale blues, greens and greys to achieve a feeling of tranquillity and serenity
  • If warm bathroom colours are what you’re looking for, use various shades of yellow and gold in your space
