The Ultimate Guide to Bathroom Mirrors

Types of Bathroom Mirrors

Mirrors are an essential component in any bathroom as they uniquely transform your space, not only aesthetically but also functionally. They’re useful when it comes to brushing your hair, checking your pearly whites or taking a selfie or two, but did you know they generally reflect more light and create the illusion of a bigger space, too?

Cabinet Mirrors

Cabinet mirrors (also known as shaving cabinets) are a 2-in-1 gem! They’re not only a mirror but they also act as the perfect storage solution; ideal for bathrooms with limited or no counter space.

Frameless Mirrors

As the name suggests, frameless mirrors have no frame around them. They’re a simple design for those wishing to create a minimalistic look.

Shop a range of shapes and sizes to suit your space.

A framless mirror is also perfect for a living space, bedroom or walk in robe.

Choosing the right Mirror Shape

Round Mirror

Round bathroom mirrors are a popular choice as they add softness and create a relaxed vibe due to their organic shape. They suit all types of styles, including contemporary, mid-century modern, boho, minimalist, coastal, Hamptons and farmhouse. They’re perfectly suited for double bowl vanities.

Arch Shaped Mirror

Arch mirrors are trending. They add a designer touch and work with most bathroom spaces, particularly with larger vanities with a single bowl. They also work great if you want to reference this shape in more than one way for a lovely cohesive look (i.e. an arched niche or arched door opening).

Rectangle Mirror

Classic rectangle/square mirrors are the longest-standing on the market. They’re a timeless piece that suits every interior style you can possibly think of. They’re great for longer vanities with a double bowl as this creates unison between the individual bowls.

Choosing the Right Size Mirror

To create a balanced look, the size of your mirror should be relative to that of your vanity. A common approach is to make the mirror exactly as wide as the vanity so the two line up perfectly. If they’re not the same width, then choose one that is approximately 20 percent shorter than the vanity. With respect to height, the underside of the mirror should roughly be 300mm from the top of the vanity and the mirror should roughly hang 2100mm above floor level.

It ultimately comes down to what works best for you and what your bathroom can accommodate.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Minimum effort on a regular basis can secure optimal results. To keep your mirror squeaky clean, we suggest cleaning it with a microfibre cloth and a glass cleaning solution. For an unparalleled finish, white vinegar works a real treat – just don’t get it on the frame as it could cause damage over a period of time.

If you’d like to add practicality to your bathroom, consider a mirror with a built-in demister and touch sensor. This convenient feature prevents any condensation from building up after a shower or bath; resulting in a beautiful, steam-free reflection!

Mirrors are designed to do three things: showcase your space, be useful and reflect well on you. Without one, a bathroom is simply not complete. Now that you know a little more about them, you can check out our entire range here, at prices you’ll love
